Celebrity Homes in the Hamptons
Steven Spielberg
Located by the Georgica Pond in East Hampton, the famous, quintessential hollywood director Steven Spielberg has a vacation home/ family retreat. The name of his home is the Quelle Farm, which has a market value of $25 million dollars. Steven Spielberg recently donated seven acres of land to an East Hampton based land trust which seeks to protect that land from development.
In case you’ve forgotten, or simply want to be reminded, Steven Spielberg is the director of Jurassic Park, Schindler’s List, Saving Private Ryan, and Jaws which was accredited as the first real summer blockbuster. East Hampton often throws events in Steven Spielberg’s honor, or to celebrate some of his new news, such as a local screening of one of his new films.
Robert De Niro
The actor of The Godfather Part II, The Goodfellas, Taxi Driver and Martin Scorsese’s old time partner in crime, Robert De Niro is also a local resident in East Hampton. While Robert is technically located in Montauk, Montauk is a specific area within East Hampton. Montauk is most famous for being a more woodsy and nature oriented area of the Hamptons and East Hampton.
Another resident the town is visibly proud of, East Hampton also celebrates Robert De Niro’s current news and also screens his newest films. Robert De Niro owns his house in East Hampton, and also a few members of his family just recently purchased their own East Hampton house only twenty minutes away from his. Houses adjacent to Robert De Niro’s just recently went on the market, so if you’re looking for a new place to rest your head, think about becoming neighbors with one of Hollywood’s most celebrated actors.
Jerry Seinfeld
Jerry Seinfeld’s current East Hampton home, the Further Lane Mansion, once belonged to Billy Joel. Jerry Seinfeld bought the home from him for $12 Million, and it is now home to his wife Jessica Seifeld and family. The home is 12 acres along a private beachfront, and has an outdoor pool in the front yard facing the ocean.
Jerry Seinfeld is the well known comedian and actor known both for his stand up work, as well as for the show about his life Seinfeld, which portrays his life with miscreant friends Kramer, and George, and his stand up derived from their hilarious adventures on the show. Produced with friend Larry David, Jerry Seinfeld’s show was the precursor to continued endeavors by David like “Curb Your Enthusiasm”.
Howard Stern
Video killed the radio star? Apparently not… The mega famous radio star Howard Stern also owns a home in East Hampton. Howard’s home actually looks a bit more decadent than some of his counterparts. It constitutes a 16,000 square foot home on the oceanfront, three acres, eight bedrooms, twelve bathrooms, and a whopping 1500square foot bedroom for himself.
Stern is famous for his explicit radio shows and interviews which challenged the boundaries of the FCC and to what was appropriate to air to the public. Bold and racy moves by Stern landed him in a lot of trouble with the FCC, and eventually landed him with a lot of money, and a characteristically shocking- beautiful home in the Hamptons.
Alec Baldwin
Alec Baldwin recently purchased a house in East Hampton this year. The home is located in Amagansett, and was sold directly to him without ever being listed or publicized on the market. The house was built in the 1700s, and is being renovated not to fit a more modern look, but to be more faithful to the house as it was in 1756.
Alec Baldwin is the recurring star of NBC’s top show, 30 Rock. You will also know him from his work in many major motion pictures such as The Departed by Martin Scorsese, and from his famous sales monologue in Glengarry Glen Ross.
Paul Simon
Paul Simon lives in Montauk, East Hampton at 15 Cliff Drive. You know Paul Simon from Peter, Paul, and Mary, the band that brought you the iconic soundtrack to The Graduate, with classic anthems like “Mrs. Robinson”.
Paul Simon’s solo career is also something to marvel at. Through his trips to South Africa, Simon befriended local bands there whose music was something the western world had little exposed to before Simon brought it back to the US and UK with his revolutionary album Graceland. Memorable tracks include “Diamonds on the Souls of Her Shoes”, “Call Me Al”, and “Boy in a Bubble”.
